Son Fatally Attacks 70-Year-Old Mother in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command apprehended Inyangake James Peter, aged 40, for the murder of his 70-year-old mother, Mma-Offiong James Peter, in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area. The Command’s spokesperson, CPS Odiko Macdon, expressed concern over the disturbing trend of family members committing such heinous acts against their own kin.

According to Macdon, the suspect claimed to have acted upon a directive from an inner voice compelling him to carry out the fatal deed. The statement released by the police indicated that the incident occurred on April 4, 2024, at around 9:00 am in Ikpe Annang Village. Inyangake James Peter confessed to the crime and has been transferred to the State CID for further investigation.

The suspect’s chilling admission of obeying the voice instructing him to “kill her” underscores the severity of the situation. The police emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigate the matter, and upon completion of the inquiry, the suspect will face charges in court for the gruesome murder of his mother.
