Brentford Acquires Flying Eagles Defender Frederick from Kaduna Academy Owned by Moses Simon

Premier League outfit Brentford has exercised their buy option to secure the services of Flying Eagles defender Benjamin Frederick.

Renowned Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the decision, stating that Brentford opted to activate the clause to acquire the 18-year-old talent from the Simoiben Academy in Kaduna, which is owned by Nigerian Super Eagles forward Moses Simon.

Frederick, a product of the Simoiben Football Academy, began his journey with ABS FC ahead of the 2021–22 Season, where he showcased his talent by earning a debut in February 2022 and clinching the man of the match accolade. His impressive performances caught the attention of Brentford, leading to his loan signing with the English club in August 2023, with an option for a permanent deal.

Making significant strides in his career, Frederick earned his place in Brentford’s first-team match-day squad for the first time in January 2024, being named as a substitute for an FA Cup encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Additionally, he displayed his prowess on the international stage, representing the Flying Eagles in the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt, where he played every minute, contributing to the team’s third-place finish.

Frederick’s journey continued to soar as he earned a call-up to the Flying Eagles squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, showcasing his talent on a global platform. His consistent performances and growth highlight his potential as a rising star in both domestic and international football arenas.
