Vontae Davis, Former NFL Star, Passes Away

Former NFL star cornerback Vontae Davis, who played 10 seasons before retiring in 2018, has tragically passed away at the age of 35.

Davis was discovered deceased in a Florida home on Monday, April 1. WSVN reported that authorities found a male body at a residence owned by Davis’ grandmother in Southwest Ranches, Florida, located 30 miles north of Miami.

Police have stated that there is no suspicion of foul play in the untimely passing of former NFL star cornerback Vontae Davis at the age of 35. However, authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Chester Frazier, Davis’ former college football coach, expressed his condolences, acknowledging the tragic loss and offering prayers for Davis’ family during this difficult time.

Davis began his football journey at Dunbar High School in Washington D.C., where he showcased his talent and earned recognition as the No. 33 cornerback recruit in the nation. Opting for the Fighting Illini, Davis excelled on the college level, amassing 139 solo tackles and seven interceptions over three seasons.

Selected as the 25th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Davis embarked on a successful professional career, playing for the Dolphins, Colts, and Bills. Throughout his tenure, he earned two Pro Bowl selections and amassed impressive statistics, totaling 396 tackles, 22 interceptions, and two sacks. Despite his achievements, Davis made headlines when he abruptly retired during a Bills game in 2018, marking the conclusion of his impactful career in the NFL.
