Rapper Rod Wave Arrested for Gun Possession

American singer and rapper Rod Wave has been taken into custody for allegedly possessing a firearm. According to arrest records, the arrest took place in Manatee County, Florida, on Wednesday.

Following the arrest, the St. Petersburg Police Department held a press conference where they claimed that Rod Wave was linked to a gang-related shooting in Florida. This shooting occurred outside Sonic Sports Bar in St. Petersburg on Sunday, March 31, resulting in injuries to four bystanders.

St. Petersburg Police Chief Mike Kovacsev revealed that three of the individuals taken into custody, Christopher Atkins, Keith Westby, and Kevontre Wesby, are purportedly affiliated with the Young Gangsters gang. Additionally, Kovacsev mentioned that two more suspects are currently undergoing the arrest process in connection with the incident. These developments shed light on the ongoing investigation into the gang-related shooting outside Sonic Sports Bar in St. Petersburg.

In response to the allegations and his subsequent arrest, Rod Wave’s legal representatives, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin, vehemently denied any involvement in criminal activity. Through a statement released on Instagram, the rapper’s attorneys asserted that there was no evidence linking Rod Wave to the possession of a firearm at the time of his apprehension. This declaration contradicts the assertions made by law enforcement regarding Rod Wave’s purported involvement in the shooting incident.

The conflicting narratives between law enforcement and Rod Wave’s legal team underscore the complexity of the situation. As the investigation unfolds, questions surrounding the rapper’s alleged connection to the gang-related shooting and the circumstances of his arrest continue to garner attention and scrutiny.
