Allegations Surface: Brad Pitt Accused of Physically Abusing Angelina Jolie Prior to 2016 Plane Incident

In a recent court filing, Angelina Jolie claims that her former husband, Brad Pitt, was physically abusive towards her prior to the 2016 plane incident, which ultimately led to her decision to initiate divorce proceedings.

Additional information is coming to light regarding the history of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. In a court filing dated April 4, Jolie, pertaining to the ongoing legal dispute over their French winery Château Miraval, asserts that Pitt engaged in physical abuse towards her before the well-known plane incident in 2016, which subsequently prompted Jolie to file for divorce.

“While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles,” the filing reads, “this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.”

Following their legal separation in 2019, Pitt and Jolie have been co-parenting their six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. The children, aged between 8 and 15 at the time of the reported plane incident, are under shared custody arrangements.

Regarding the 2016 plane incident, Pitt denied any allegations of abuse, and by November of that year, the FBI had concluded its investigation without filing any charges against him. Additionally, in the same month, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) completed its own investigation into the incident, finding no evidence of abuse.

The legal dispute surrounding the ex-couple’s ownership of Chateau Miraval commenced in 2022 when Pitt initiated a lawsuit against Jolie in February. Pitt claimed that Jolie sold her stakes in the winery, a sprawling 1300-acre estate they jointly acquired in 2008, without his approval.

Responding to Pitt’s lawsuit, Jolie countered with a $250 million lawsuit against the actor in September of the same year. She alleged that Pitt orchestrated a scheme to wrest control of the once-shared estate following their divorce.
