“We’re Unveiling New ‘Supernatural’ Characters in Season 2,” Teases Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega teases that season 2 will be introducing more “supernatural” elements. First releasing on Netflix in 2022, Wednesday is based on The Addams Family sitcom from the 1960s, following Ortega’s Wednesday Addams as she solves a mystery at Nevermore Academy. The show was a major hit for Netflix, and it’s been confirmed that season 2 is on the way with some changes in store for audiences.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair as the wait for Wednesday season 2 continues, Ortega teases that new supernatural characters will be introduced in the show’s next outing. The actor also touches on how she’ll be preparing to play the character again and what audiences can expect from the new episodes more generally.

Little official information has been revealed so far regarding season 2, but the Wednesday season 1 ending provide some indication of what direction the story will go in. The season ends with Ortega’s character making some big discoveries, including that Christina Ricci’s Marylin Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates, Nevermore’s botany professor, has been behind the season’s evil scheme. While Thornhill is defeated at the end of the show, the final scenes tease that a big threat is still to come.

Filming on the new season is expected to get underway this April in the UK, meaning the series may not be returning to screens until 2025. Much of the core Wednesday cast is expected to return for season 2, including Emma Myers as Enid, Percy Hynes White as Xavier, Joy Sunday as Bianca, and Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, among others. With filming due to get underway in the next few months, more details about Wednesday season 2 will hopefully be revealed in the near future.
